9/06/2003 Florida 33 scUM 38
| Having spent 3+ emotional hours in that
hole of a stadium, in what turned out to be an exciting game (as opposed the
blow outs experts predicted) I cant complain...I had a good time with
friends. However, I can only say that after digesting this loss 24
hours later. The Gators should have won this game, but perhaps this time, we simply did not have the championship swagger that the Hurricanes displayed. Brock Berlin made the Gators pay, and Florida simply did not do well down the stretch, where we could not pick up a first down to put the game away, and we had poor clock management under one minute. We threw to the same guy in the same play, with the same pattern 3 TIMES!! Can Zook be a little more creative?! Nevertheless, the Gators did well and proved they will be in contention the rest of the way. I don't usually do the update on www.fsusucks.com on lost games, but this one for the ages. I will never forget this one and it helps that I was there in that horrible stadium that should be knocked down. And the game had many "if we could only get that one
back" moments.
We'll never know what might have happened if Florida
hadn't given up those two long kickoff returns in the first quarter. We'll
never know whether Florida would have extended the lead - if not for all of
those penalties - so that it wouldn't have mattered. So in
the end, how does the Gator Nation feel?
There are no such things as moral victories with a team like ours and there
is no way anyone in the Gator Nation can be happy with its team blowing a
23-point lead in the last 21 minutes. Frankly, I was angry when I left
the stadium. |
