Game Notes

The Gators and the billies from Tennessee sqaure off this week in what is always a pivotal game in the SEC east.  The Gators are coming off an unimpressive win vs. Ohio U. and of course, those losers from Rocky Top have to take a week off (every year) to prepare for the game.

I will be at the game this weekend enjoying roasting those rednecks.  I look forward to going to Knoxville and enjoying the game live in that big stadium.  Look for Rex Grossman to have a big game.  He continues to tell the media that "this team is good" but has been a little shaky in his last two starts and has appeared to be pressing. Protection is a major concern. Casey Clausen certainly is comfortable in his system and is excellent using the talent around him.  However, let's not forget who was the Heisman runner-up last year!!

At running backs, Earnest Graham is healthy and off to a strong start and looking to prove something after missing last year's game with an injured knee. We may need him if the weather is very bad like it has been in the past...UT's has a stable of backs in Cedric Houston, Jabari Davis and Derrick Tinsley that are young and very talented.   I look for the Gator "D" to shut down the run and put pressure on Clausen.  What can change things is that big play receiver they got in Kelly Washington.  He is another Chris Weinke.  A 24 year old sophmore and he is in great shape.  He is a big playmaker and our corners are going to have their hands full.

On the defensive side, the Vols are young and  inexperienced.  They have not been tested yet, although end Omari Hand and tackle Rashad Moore have seen extensive playing time in the past. The Gators have to put pressure on the QB.  Our linebackers have switched and senior Bam Hardmon has gone from outside linebacker to middle linebacker. He led the team in tackles in his first start there last week. The Vols' have two potential big-timers in Eddie Moore and Keyon Whiteside.

Look for the Gators to run some trick plays.  They have not run any all year.  Also, look for Florida to run the ball and run the clock to keep Washington off the field.  While not many believe Florida will win, I think the Gators will come through for the Gator Nation and win big 27-10.  I will be there and they better win, otherwise, it will be a loooong drive back!!
