9/14/2002 Florida 34 Ohio U. 6
| While it did not start off well, the
end result was a win and the weather did not help. Is it coaching?
Is it talent? Instead of building confidence, this turned out to be a
doozy and the Gators come out with a win against lowly Ohio. While the
result was a rout, it all happened late in the game and frankly, Ohio should
have scored more in the first half. We
fumbled, threw INTs, and made plenty of mistakes. Such as Graham
losing a fumble, Matt Piotrowicz sending a kickoff out of bounds and Mike
Degory lobbing a shotgun snap over Grossman's head for an 11-yard loss.
Under heavy pressure once, Grossman threw a nice pass -- to lineman David
Jorgensen, who was standing near the sideline for some reason. The list went
on and on. This game wasn't secure until Graham took a pitch from Grossman on an option play and scored a 40-yard touchdown for a 28-6 lead with 13 minutes left. Willie Green scored a few minutes later, but it only dressed up the score in an otherwise rugged night for the Gators. Next week the Gators play the Vols in Knoxville. We should be ready and i am confident that Grossman will rise and shine in this game. |
