10/17 Florida 24 Auburn 3

With a great 1st half and a 2nd half that lacked emotion, the Gators scored enough points to beat a crappy Auburn team by a score of 24-3.   Florida did not push the issue in the second half playing it safe and holding Auburn with their solid defense.

The Gators ran some fancy plays and formations and got off to a quick start with touchdowns to Travis Taylor and Travis McGriff.  Once again, Travis McGriff showed why he is the best in the SEC.

The Gators just seemed to be toying with the Tigers, especially when Steve Spurrier brought back a version of the Emory & Henry formation he has employed in the past (vs. Bama in SEC Champ Game).

However, even with the impressive score, the Gators continued to make mistakes.  They committed three turnovers, got penalized for 93 yards and couldn't gain an inch on a fourth-and-1 from Auburn's 12-yard line in the third quarter.   Rather embarrassing.

From the defensive side, Florida held Auburn to pretty much no offense and new players have stepped up and replaced the injured Gators.

This game was rather boring in the second half as Coach Spurrier decided to just get out of the swamp with a win.  This game was so boring that fans were booing Coach Spurrier for throwing twice in the last 22 minutes of play.   Downright boring!!

On a good note, the Gators extend the home winning streak to 26 games by beating Auburn who had a lot of problems with their Center/QB exchange.   They could not even run the shot gun.

BOTTOM LINE:  We have two weeks to prepare and play a good Georgia team in Jax.  I hope we can fix this error prone offense and be more focused.   With a little luck the Gators can end up playing in a big bowl.
