9/12 Florida 42 Northeast Louisiana 10
| In a lackluster performance, Florida defeated crummy
Northeast Louisiana by a score of 42-10. Jesse Palmer looked like he could start
against Tennessee as he threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns, but it was not pretty.
He threw two interceptions and receivers continued to force the reception as
opposed to the ball coming to them. The Gators did not show any improvement, and in
fact had more turnovers and mistakes like penalties and poor special team play. It was so bad that even after an interception, Tony George fumbled the return. The good thing about the game, is Doug Johnson was able to play and he looked just fine. I still think Jesse Palmer should start against UT next week. Terry Jackson ran for 117 yards in a great performance. Other running backs showed good moves too. However, all of this yardage comes against crappy opposition and they must be ready to play the tough teams ahead. Jesse played OK. He played pretty well at times and at times he threw some errant passes and a little quickly at times. He made a nice leap at two of those shotgun snaps that (Zac) Zedallis tried to throw over his head. No trick plays or razzle-dazzle from Spurrier (nothing to disclose) performed during the game. About halfway through the game, the crowd heard about the fsu loss and the Gator following erupted in cheers. fsu lost to NC State. The "freak" Jevon Kearse was dominating sacking the QB twice and picking up a fumble. The receiving core has shown improvement and many of the youngsters wideouts are looking really good and showing some potential. Florida tied a school record with its 23rd consecutive win at home today, equaling the mark set from 1990-93 when UF ran off 23 consecutive wins at home. It is the second longest current home win streak in the nation - Nebraska, 44. Lets just hope they improve this week. |
